1. Obstructive uropathy:
- VUR either congenital or secondary to UTI
- Congenital anomalies e.g. phimosis, double ureters etc
- Renal calculi
- Neurogenic bladder
2. Catheters or foreign bodies
3. Constipation; elimination disorders
4. Mal-treatment or inadequate treatment of an acute attack
